Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has vowed the band have a bright future following the shock departure of drummer Joey Jordison.

Fan were left astonished earlier this month when it was revealed that Jordison had bowed out for “personal reasons,” leaving percussionist Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan the only original member of the outfit that formed 18 years ago.

A few days after the news broke Taylor explained it wasn’t possible to go into detail, saying: “We’re trying to protect him, protect us. Legally and respectfully I can’t say a lot about it.”

That’s led to weeks of online speculation, which Taylor has now addressed. He says in a tweet: “For those who think the Knot are falling apart, you are greatly and sadly mistaken. Bring on 2014. Great things are coming. Stay tuned.”

Jordison – who’s currently concentrating on his Scar The Martyr project – said earlier this year that he’d written 40 songs for the band’s first album since the death of bassist Paul Gray in 2010.

But Taylor later confirmed none of those would appear, saying: “This is all fresh material that just a handful of us have been putting together. I’ve been writing some stuff. Jim Root has got a ton of stuff. It’s sounding really, really good.”
