Lars Ulrich of Metallica went to join the guys at “Meet The Filmmaker” which took places at the Apple Store in London, England, on the 3rd of October this year. Courtesy of Blabbermouth.net we have access to an awesome 30 minutes of footage where Ulrich discussed Metallica‘s newly released IMAX 3D concert film, “Metallica – Through The Never“. Lars covers how it feels to see himself on the big screen, and the various production points of the film.

Metallica Through The Never was directed by Nimród Antal an award-winning filmmaker. The U.S. and Canada DVD/Blu-Ray and Video On Demand versions of Through The Never will be released on the 28th of Jan, 2014 through Blackened Recordings.

Check out www.metallica.com for more information.

The rest of the world will see the film on DVD/VOD and various other digital platforms follow on the same date, or soon after.

Poor Reception?

Picturehouse released “Metallica Through the Never” in Cinemas in North America on the 27th of September, 2013 to a fairly poor reception considering the production costs involved.
Metallica Through The Never only made back $3.2 million at the box office of it’s $18 million budget. Metallica themselves paid for the project. $5 million of which went into a specially designed stage show, constructed for the production.

In order for Through The Never to become profitable. It will have to make at least double its $18 million production and marketing budget back at the box office. With theatre owners taking up to half ticket sales revenue. Meaning it has to reach $36 million just to break even. A long way off it would seem.

We’ve included the footage below, check it out for yourself. Have you seen the movie? What did you think of it? Is it worth going to see? Do you think Metallica have a chance to make their money back with the DVD and Blu Ray sales?
