My Acumen

Fired Five Finger Death Punch bassist Matt Snell has released a five-track EP with his new band My Acumen – stream or download it here and listen to opening track Burn below.

It’s his first project since 5FDP dismissed him in 2011. He took a year away from music, then spent time on solidify a band lineup which includes vocalist Mike Gerdts, guitarists Lamont Edgar (Maya Hyena, Son Of Sanford) and Andy Nixon (Eyes On Fire) plus drummer Tim Hassemer (Flatline).

Snell tells Hollywood Music: “We are giving the tracks away because we want people to hear the music. There’s way too much emphasis from bands trying to make money; personally I don’t believe in Kickstarter programmes and asking people for money to make a record.

“We really like what we have so far and we’re not going to stray too far from it. We’re going to go back to what I used to play when I enjoyed playing – when it was fun.”

My Acumen are already working on another set of songs with the aim of writing “a complete album you can listen to front to back.”
